API-FULLER SEMINAR ON MENTAL HEALTH AND YOUTH ISSUES

Come and learn about the future of theological education as well as how to reach youths today.

Spiritual Maturity and Mental Health among Pastors and Christian Leaders: Lessons and Insights from 7 Years of Scientific and Theological Research

Does spiritual maturity and flourishing have implications for our maturity as human beings and our capacity to navigate stressful seasons of life such as the Covid-19 pandemic?

Dr David C Wang will explore the contributions of psychological research and the Christian faith towards a better understanding of the relationship between human and spiritual formation within the context of theological education and the local church.

What does Science reveal about the challenges and effectiveness of seminary and churches in cultivating human and spiritual growth?  What about the seminary context and what about the church context are the key ingredients that support human and spiritual growth?

Dr Wang will present empirical research findings from a longitudinal study (including analysis before and throughout the Covid-19 pandemic) involving participants from 18 Roman Catholic, mainline Protestant and evangelical seminaries in North America.  Throughout the lecture, attendees will be invited to discuss, reflect and explore the potential implications of these research findings on the future of theological education in Asia, North America and other contexts around the world.

Reaching Today’s Youths . . . Before It’s Too Late

Be it Generation Alpha or Generation Z, teens and youths today have many labels, often unflattering, pasted on them.

How can those from preceding generations reach, let alone understand, these “newcomers” as gaps in norms, expectations and even values widen with such rapid speed?

Dr John Tan, an avid youth-scene watcher, will expound on this from his vast experience of engaging with youths deemed at-risk, disadvantaged and misunderstood.

Listen as he shares practical advice, tips and ways to connect and impact even the toughest of youths.
