WORLD VISION VIRTUAL TRIP TO WAZIRPUR, BANGLADESH

Did you know that there are about 150,000 Bangladeshis in Singapore, making it one of Singapore’s biggest immigrant populations?

But how much do we know about them and the place they call home?

Wazirpur is a district located in the Southern region of Bangladesh, about 114km away from Dhaka. Majority of the population are limited to labour-intensive and low-income occupations such as farmers, daily labourers or petty traders.

The district is also prone to earthquakes which causes water logging and arsenic poisoning. This further restricts their economic livelihood opportunities. There is also prevalence of child labour and child marriage, contributing to high drop-out rates in school, limiting the opportunities for future growth and development.

More often than not, learning more about our neighbours can help to create a space for understanding and even friendship. One way to do so is through World Vision’s next #VirtualTrip to Wazirpur.

Come and hear first-hand from staff, children and families on the ground. Witness the struggles they face, and discover how #ChildSponsorship is helping to provide opportunities for them to overcome their challenges and live life to the fullest. You can also find out more about how to join the community of changemakers at World Vision to help the most vulnerable children in the world.

All are welcomed.

“Those who are gracious to the poor, lend to the Lord and the Lord will fully repay them.” Proverbs 19:17
