Bible reading for Day 11 | Matthew 22:37-39
37 Jesus replied: “‘Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.’ 38 This is the first and greatest commandment. 39 And the second is like it: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’
Did you know loving people is almost as important as loving God? When we don’t love people, we are not loving God because His heart is always for people.
Love is the way to turn Singapore to God. How do we do this?
Love God, love people
When we love God, He puts His love inside our hearts. This love will fill our hearts so much that it flows out of our hearts to the people around us! The more we love God, the more love He gives us for other people.
Love people in a way they understand
Love people with things, actions and words that they can understand. Everyone is different. Ask God to show you what works for each person. It could be sharing your tissue paper with someone at the hawker center, or giving up your seat on the train to someone who needs it. It could be as simple as putting your arm around your friend. It could be telling your parents you are thankful for their care!
Discuss
1. Do you love God? How are you showing God you love Him?
2. Is there a person in your life that you find difficult to love? In what way is God challenging you to love this person?
Pray
1. Pray that God will make your heart like His, so that you can love like He does.
2. Pray that the love of God, through all of us, will turn Singapore towards the God of love.
