Bible reading for Day 27 |Isaiah 60:1-2
1 “Arise, shine, for your light has come,
and the glory of the Lord rises upon you.
2 See, darkness covers the earth
and thick darkness is over the peoples,
but the Lord rises upon you
and his glory appears over you.
As we go through life, there will be moments of darkness, such as sickness and pain. However, Isaiah 60 tells us that even in darkness, we have God’s light, which is Jesus Himself. The light of Jesus can shine through every darkness.
Why we need Jesus
Jesus brings understanding during confusing times. He has the power to heal wounded hearts and repair broken relationships. Jesus gives hope when there is none and is the best help for anyone going through dark times.
How we can bring Jesus to others
When we become more and more like Jesus, the people around us will see Jesus in us. Here are a few things we can do to grow to become more like Jesus:
- Spend time learning about Him and listening to His Word;
- Humble ourselves;
- Live according to His instructions;
- Pray to Him continuously because when we pray, God works through us.
Even the darkest of times can become an opportunity for us to reveal Jesus.
We can reach out to those who are lonely, lost or have little when we allow God’s light to shine through us!
Discuss
1. Do you know of anyone who might be going through a difficult time? How would you bring the light of Jesus to this person?
2. To bring Jesus to others, we need to first become more like Jesus ourselves. What changes would you need to make to your life to grow in this area?
Pray
1. Pray that the Holy Spirit will help you to be sensitive to those who are hurting around you, so that you can show God’s kindness to them. Pray that God will also work powerfully through you, so that they can experience the healing that Jesus gives.
2. Pray that you will fall deeper in love with Jesus, that you will be in awe of His beauty and goodness, draw near to Him every day and grow to be more and more like Him.
