Bible reading for Day 29 |Acts 13:2
2 While they were worshipping the Lord and fasting, the Holy Spirit said, “Set apart for me Barnabas and Saul for the work to which I have called them.”
In every generation, God chooses people to fulfil the purposes of God for that time.
In Acts 13, the Holy Spirit revealed the leaders for the church of Antioch for that generation: Barnabas and Saul. Later in the same chapter, we learn that King David was a leader for Israel during his time.
There was also a group of leaders, the tribe of Issachar, which the Bible described as “mighty warriors of their generation” (1 Chronicles 7).
Do you know that the Holy Spirit is still speaking today? Singapore, too, needs the Holy Spirit to reveal His “mighty warriors” for the young people of today.
Young leaders who are courageous in sharing about Jesus, serious about turning away from sin, and obedient to what God calls them to do.
Every generation’s leaders face different challenges because of the changing world we live in, but God’s appointed leaders will always have what it takes to face and overcome the unique challenges of their time.
Is God calling you to be a part of His army of “mighty warriors”?
Discuss
1. Why do you think the Bible refers to God’s chosen leaders as “mighty warriors”?
2. How have you seen God moving in your generation? Are you willing to offer your life to God, to see what He might be calling you to do for your generation?
Pray
1. Pray that the Holy Spirit will reveal the leaders among your generation who will be bold in their faith. Pray for yourself – that you will be brave to lead if God asks you to.
2. Pray for your church leaders. Give thanks to the Lord that they have been chosen by God to be His mighty warriors. Ask Him to show you what you can do to show your appreciation for their leadership.
