Bible reading for Day 4 | Matthew 28:18-20
“Then Jesus came to them and said, “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptising them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.”
Learn
Have you heard of the Great Commission? It is to go and make disciples of all nations and to baptise them.
Jesus gave this Great Commission to His 12 disciples who followed Him for three years. During these three years, Jesus changed 12 men who did not know Him to 12 disciples who would die for Him.
Jesus did this by teaching them His ways, showing them by His example and living among them. Jesus told His disciples to make other new disciples in the same way.
To turn Singapore to God, we must first evangelise – share the Good News of Jesus – then teach the new believers to become strong disciples.
If we tell people about Jesus, but do not teach new Christians how to live in the way the Bible teaches us, they may leave Jesus after a while because they do not understand or believe God’s promises.
If we only teach Christians in church to become stronger disciples, we have forgotten about those outside the church who have not yet heard of Jesus.
We must do both.
Let’s share Jesus with those who are not Christians. Let’s make them disciples by teaching them God’s Word from the Bible and journeying with them so they can do the same for others.
Discuss
1. Has someone in your life helped you grow in Christ? How did he or she do this?
2. How can you follow this example to help someone else grow in faith?
3. Do you notice friends or others around you who do not yet know about Jesus? How will you share Jesus with them?
Pray
1. Ask God to bring pastors and teachers to your church who love Jesus and are eager to share about Him with young people inside the church and outside the church.
2. Pray that God will give you the words to help you share about Jesus’ love with others.
