Bible reading for Day 4 | Luke 15:21-24
21 “The son said to him, ‘Father, I have sinned against heaven and against you. I am no longer worthy to be called your son.’
22 “But the father said to his servants, ‘Quick! Bring the best robe and put it on him. Put a ring on his finger and sandals on his feet. 23 Bring the fattened calf and kill it. Let’s have a feast and celebrate. 24 For this son of mine was dead and is alive again; he was lost and is found.’ So they began to celebrate.
God feels sad for those who do not know Him. They are like the people of Athens that Paul met, who worship many things but do not have God. Do you care as much as God does about those who do not know Him?
In the story of the lost son in today’s Bible reading, the father waits for the son who left home. When his hungry and homeless son returns, the father runs towards the son. He puts the best clothes on him. He throws a party for him. The father is filled with joy when his son returns to him.
God wants you to feel the same joy when someone who has not heard of Him finally gets to know Him.
Discuss
1. Do you feel as God does towards those who do not know Jesus? How do you think you can care about them as God does?
2. Has God shown you one thing you can do to reach out to someone who does not know Jesus? How can you do so?
Pray
1. Pray for God to put His heart inside of yours so that you can feel as He feels for the lost and love people as He loves.
2. Pray for God to help you do one thing to reach out to someone to show Jesus’ love.
