API CARE & COUNSELLING: PRE-MARITAL COUNSELLING COURSE

The course is suitable for couples who are contemplating marriage or preparing to get married. It is also suitable for married couples who have not attended any pre-marital course before and wish to strengthen their marital foundation.

By professional and experienced trainers

Workshops will be taught by a multidisciplinary team of professionals from the fields of counselling, psychology and social work. All senior instructors of the course have at least 15 years of experience in helping couples prepare for marriage.

To increase the realism and practical usefulness of the course, most seminars will be facilitated by trainers and their spouses. This allows for both the husband’s and wife’s perspectives to be brought to the discussion.

The curriculum 

This course covers the following topics:

• Starting on the right foot
• The genesis of marriage, and the roles of husband and wife
• Building intimacy and strengthening communication
• Resolving conflict
• Factors that make or break a marriage

The course will be delivered through a mix of classroom teaching, interaction and discussion, group activities, and question and answer segments.

Personality profiling service 

Couples will also undergo a Taylor-Johnson Temperament Analysis (T-JTA) Profile followed by a 1-hour counselling feedback session for this assessment. This assessment helps couples better understand each other’s strengths and weaknesses, as well as compliments the material covered in the pre-marital counselling seminars.

Six sessions over three weekends:

• Session 1: October 26, 9am-12pm
• Session 2: October 26, 1:30pm-4:30pm
• Session 3: November 2, 9am-12pm
• Session 4: November 2, 1:30pm-4:30pm
• Session 5: November 9, 9am-12pm
• Session 6: November 9, 1:30pm-4:30pm
