Bible reading for 40.Day 2026 | Psalm 33:11

Church, today we stand at a defining moment, not just for ourselves, but for the next generation. We are raising children in a world that is louder than ever, but not always truthful. 

A world that tells them: Be faster, be better, be seen, be liked. A world obsessed with instant gratification, constant comparison and quick success. 

And in the midst of all this noise, something dangerous is happening. Our children are losing their sense of identity, their resilience and their purpose. 

But today, I bring you hope. Because our children do not belong to the world’s system, they belong to God. And everything God does, He does with purpose. 

The Bible reminds us in Psalm 33:11, “The counsel of the Lord stands forever, the plans of His heart to all generations.” 

Not just one generation – all generations. This means our children are not an afterthought. They are part of God’s divine plan. Throughout Scripture, we see a powerful truth: God works through generations coming together. 

We see it in Paul and Timothy, a young man strengthened by the faith of those before him. 

We see it in Ruth and Naomi, a relationship where love, mentorship, and faith changed a destiny. 

We see it in David and Solomon, a father passing a vision to his son. 

And in Samuel and Eli, where one generation helped the other hear the voice of God. 

Clearly, we need each other. If we fail to pass on our faith, our calling, our testimony, they will not continue. But if we rise up, we can raise a generation that is strong, grounded and full of purpose. 

The question is: How do we do this? 

Not by just raising well-behaved children, but by raising disciples: Children who know God, who love people, and who live with purpose. 

We must help them become rooted:
Rooted in truth, not trends. 
Rooted in purpose, not popularity. 
Rooted in faith, not fear. 

We teach them that success is not a destination, but a journey. We show them that waiting is not weakness, it is strength. We guide them to discover purpose, not just chase achievements. Most importantly, we don’t just teach resilience, we model it. 

Because our lives preach louder than our words. When our children see us trust God in difficulty, stand firm in trials and rise again after failure, they learn what real faith looks like. 

Church, our children need more than information. They need identity. 

They need to hear: “You are not defined by social media.” “You are not defined by performance.” “You are who God created you to be.” 

And in a world full of noise, we must create space for stillness, for moments where they can hear the voice of God for themselves. 

Because purpose is not found in scrolling, it is found in His presence. 

Let me remind you of something powerful: 85% of people who come to Christ do so before the age of 18. This is not a small mission. This is a critical one. 

No wonder the famous evangelist Dwight L Moody once said, “If I could relive my life, I would devote my entire ministry to reaching children for God.” 

Because when you reach a child, you don’t just change one life – you change a generation. 

Church, we are not just individuals; we are custodians of generations. 

Psalm 145:4 declares: “One generation shall praise Your works to another, and shall declare Your mighty acts.” 

This is our calling: To rise up. To speak life. To model faith. To build bridges between generations. To create a space where young and old stand together, growing, learning, and advancing the Kingdom of God. 

So today, let this be our cry: Lord, use us. Use our lives to shape the next generation. 

Let’s proclaim together: 

We decree and declare blessings and divine protection upon our children in the mighty name of Jesus. 

We declare that the minds of our children are filled with wisdom, knowledge and understanding. 

We decree and declare that our children are vessels of honor in the hands of the Almighty, shining brightly for His glory, in the mighty name of Jesus. 

We declare that the hearts of our children remain pure, unwavering in their faith and love for the Lord. 

We decree and declare divine encounters and revelations for our children, just as God revealed Himself to Samuel, in the mighty name of Jesus. 

Finally, we decree and declare that our children radiate as beacons of light and agents of transformation in this world.

In Jesus’ name, Amen!

1. How can we begin to pass on our faith, our calling, our testimony to the next generation?

2. How can we help our youths to understand and embrace their identity in Christ?

3. How can we model faith to the young people God has placed in our lives?

Pray:

1. That we will raise our children to understand that they belong to God, not to the world.

2. That God will empower us to boldly live out our faith, so the next generation will learn from our example how to trust God in tragedy, stand firm during trials and rise again after failure.

3. That we will speak life to our young people and build bridges to them so that together, we can advance God’s Kingdom.
