During the Japanese Occupation of Singapore from 1942 to 1945, over 90,000 people passed through Changi Prison, including the foreign church leaders of Singapore’s different denominations.

“I think Changi Prison and what happened there for the interned leaders of the Church at that point in time, was a difficult lesson for the Church in Singapore,” said Rev Dr Andrew Peh, Faculty, Trinity Theological College.

“When it mattered most for them to keep their faith in Jesus, they displayed something of that same faith that’s found in Hebrews chapter 11: They are the clouds of witness that continue to line the path of Christianity for us in Singapore today.”
