"Faced with challenges on all fronts, unless the Church rises to reckon with the spiritual warfare, we will find our faith and calling crippled and derailed," says Phillip Ee, Conference Director of IDMC Conference Singapore 2024. The theme of this year's conference is: "Under Attack – Spiritual Warfare Re-engaged."

Do you know what to do if your family were under attack? What if your business were under attack? Or the very Truth is under attack?

This year’s IDMC Conference Singapore 2024, themed “Under Attack – Spiritual Warfare Re-engaged”, faces these present scenarios squarely.

Held over two days on August 30 and 31 at Singapore Expo Hall 1, veteran pastors Rev Edmund Chan and Rev Dr Peter Tan-Chi will speak on the gripping issues of Truth under Attack and Family under Attack.

Besides a rich programme of talks by the plenary speakers, including Rev Tony Yeo and Rev Tan Kay Kiong, this year’s conference also includes workshops and fireside chats, including one with media personalities Annette Lee and Felicia Chin, who will open up about the real influence of media in today’s world.

Under attack, but under God’s grace

Participants to this milestone 30th IDMC can look forward to these plenary topics:

1. Church Under Attack
2. Truth Under Attack
3. Family Under Attack
4. Discipleship Under Attack
5. Faith Under Attack
6. Leadership Under Attack

Workshops will touch on four key domains: Missions, marketplace, social justice and media influence.

Participants can engage in interaction with field practitioners in the marketplace, in missions and social justice. Helmed by city pastors from various churches, participants can come ready to hear their God-stories.

For some honest heart conversations, there will be a series of fireside chats on Friday night: Firing up the next generation by Pastor Edric Sng and a panel of youth pastors; the Kingdom story behind Awaken Generation; and real stories from business owners desiring to shine for Jesus.

In the spirit of connecting like-minded disciple-makers, there will also be ministry booths at IDMC X-Change.

“As you hear from IDMC partners sharing their God-given mission and God-stories, it is our hope that more will catch God’s heart to make disciples in every sphere of influence,” said Phillip Ee, Conference Director of IDMC Conference Singapore 2024.

Spiritual warfare re-engaged

How is the theme of this year’s IDMC, “Under Attack – Spiritual Warfare Re-Engaged”, relevant for all believers?

“We all seek to finish well. But faced with challenges on all fronts, unless the Church rises to reckon with the spiritual warfare, we will find our faith and calling crippled and derailed,” Phillip told Salt&Light.

“At this pivotal point of our 30th Conference, we must confront the present challenges that the Church faces and be ready to adapt for the future with its cultural and technological shifts. Yet, we are still deeply committed to the constant anchor over the years – the call to multiply disciple-making across generations and nations.

“May we rise above the adversity in the wilderness, with renewed faith and obedience, to see the Kingdom come and God’s will be done.”

Seeing God’s Kindom come

IDMC Singapore, one of the largest annual Christian conferences, started in 1995 as an annual disciple-making church seminar that ran from 1995 to 2000.

Rev Edmund Chan, the Leadership Mentor at Covenant Evangelical Free Church, was led to conduct the seminar after his return from sabbatical at Trinity Evangelical Divinity School in the US.

“We are not asked to attend a good conference but we are tasked to fulfil the Great Commission!”

In 2001, the Lord led him to run a full three-day conference that crystallised the essential teachings of the previous years’ seminars, along with new insights on developing a disciple-making church.

Since then, IDMC Singapore Conference has become an annual gathering of various churches from different denominations across the world.

“The Great Commission is God’s primary agenda for the world,” said Phillip. “The IDMC Conference seeks to be a catalyst for a disciple-making movement by returning to the Word of God as the compass of our discipleship mandate and disciple-making mission.

“It is our prayer that as the Lord transforms us from the inside out, we will see a new generation of disciples setting our sights on the greatest Commission of all time – to be part of a multiplying movement seeing generations and nations turning to Jesus, making disciples who will make disciples.

“We are not asked to attend a good conference but we are tasked to fulfil the Great Commission!”
