Relief Singapore holds urgent canned food donation drive for Gaza this weekend as food crisis worsens

Relief Singapore is holding another urgent donation drive for Gaza as the food crisis worsens amid the Israel-Hamas war.
“Gaza is on the brink of famine because of the ongoing Israel-Hamas conflict. People are dying from starvation, while malnourished mothers are giving birth to stillborn children,” it said, calling specifically for canned food donations.

The non-profit organisation, which collected 5.3 tonnes of blankets for the battered region last November, added that the donations will be delivered soon to Jordan for distribution in Gaza via air drops conducted by Singapore’s Air Force and Army.
Officials from the United Nations said last month that at least a quarter of Gaza’s population, or some 576,000 people, are one step away from famine, while 1 in 6 children under two in northern Gaza are suffering from starvation.
Here are the details of this weekend’s donation drive:
⚠️ ONLY HALAL, READY-TO-EAT, EASY-TO-OPEN CANNED FOOD ACCEPTED
Donations should:
- Be halal-certified
- Be ready-to-eat from the can
- Have at least six months’ shelf life (expiring no earlier than October 2024)
- Preferably come with ring pull tabs for easy opening
