Bible reading for 40.Day 2026 | 2 Chronicles 7:14
Shalom, brothers and sisters in Christ!
As a nation, Singapore is a miracle: A people blessed with stability, opportunity and diversity.
Yet, beneath the strength of our systems, we sense a deeper need. It is a hunger – not for more success, but for greater meaning; not for more noise, but for a clearer voice; not for more achievement, but for an enduring hope.
If Singapore is to turn Godward together, then God’s people must move Godward together.
Hear the Word of the Lord from 2 Chronicles 7:14 (ESV): “If My people, who are called by My name, will humble themselves and pray and seek My face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and I will forgive their sin and will heal their land.”
This is not merely a historical promise for a distant people. It is a divine invitation for all of us, here and now. This is God’s call, not just for a few individuals, not just for a few churches and denominations, but for a whole-people united!
We have built a nation that works. But today, we are called to build a nation that worships.
We have mastered the art of being self-sufficient. Now, we must master the heart of being God-dependent.
The call of God is clear: Turn Singapore Godward together.
Here is our fourfold response to 2 Chronicles 7:14
1. Together, let us humble ourselves
We are a high-achieving nation, yet before the Almighty God, we choose to bow low.
Together, we lay aside our pride, our credentials, and the self-reliance that so often marks our progress. We set aside our quiet independence to acknowledge a foundational truth: “Lord, without You, we can do nothing.”
2. Together, let us pray
We approach this moment, not as a hollow ritual, but out of a living relationship with our living God.
From the heart of our HDB blocks to the peaks of our skyscrapers, from the desks of our schools to the tables of our boardrooms, let a united cry ascend together like incense rising across our land.
We are not merely reciting words; but we are lifting a collective plea: “Lord, move once again in our midst.”
3. Together, let us seek His face
Too often, we seek only His hand for His divine provision and protection. But in this hour, we seek His holy face.
We desire His presence more than His presents; we hunger for His righteousness even more than our own progress. We come before Him with a singular prayer: “Lord, when we find You, we find everything.”
4. Together, let us turn from our wicked ways
This is a moment for honest, heartfelt repentance. We turn away from the ease of compromise, from the shadows of hidden sin, and from the exhaustion of living double and divided lives.
We know that God is not looking for a display of perfection, but for hearts that are fully and unreservedly His. Let this be our collective vow: “Lord, we turn from our ways – make our hearts wholly Yours.”
When a nation turns Godward together, God responds:
“I will hear from heaven …” God is listening.
“I will forgive their sin …” God’s mercy is flowing.
“I will heal their land.” God will heal our families, mental health, our churches and our future.
Imagine the transformation of and impact on our nation:
- Believers united in a single cry.
- Families rebuilding the altars of their homes.
- Young people set ablaze with holy passion.
- Leaders and Pastors anchored in the fear of God and integrity.
Not tomorrow. Not someday. But today:
- Let us humble ourselves together.
- Let us pray together.
- Let us seek His face together.
- Let us turn Singapore Godward together.
As we turn to Him together, God will surely turn to us.
May God bless Singapore.
Let’s pray together:
Heavenly Father, we stand as one people in Christ. We humble ourselves and confess our prideful self-reliance. We acknowledge that together, Singapore needs Jesus!
Forgive our divided hearts and our silent compromises. Lord, we seek not just Your blessing; we earnestly seek Your face. From our homes to our workplaces, let Your glory rest and fall on Singapore.
Together, we turn this nation Godward. Let Your kingdom come and Your will be done on this little Red Dot, even as it is in Heaven.
In Jesus’ mighty name, Amen!
Reflect:
- We are a nation that works. What will you do to make this a nation that worships?
- Do we seek God’s hands of provision more than we seek His presence?
- What hidden sins do we have that we need to repent of today?
Pray:
- That we will set aside our self-reliance and humble ourselves before God, knowing that without Him we can do nothing.
- That we will set aside all our differences and truly unite our hearts to pray as one.
- That we will set aside our human desires, repent of our sin and make our hearts wholly God’s.
