HOPE IN ACTION 2024: OUR STORIES INTERTWINED

A single mum from an adverse background who tenaciously started her own business and is now journeying with others in difficult circumstances.

A youth mental health professional who has personally overcome many of the same struggles as the youths he now works with.

A professional speech therapist who has taken her passion for hand-crafting and used it to empower local women, increasing their capacity to provide for their households.

A respected local charity which has spent decades journeying in a deeply personal manner with those who are affected by income inequality and other aspects of brokenness.

What can we learn from them about the power and privilege of stepping into someone’s story?

Come for this year’s Hope in Action Forum: Our Stories Intertwined to hear these incredible experiences firsthand, and consider how you can go and do likewise for others.

Mini marketplace

There will also be an opportunity for you to participate in the stories of some of these community members by supporting featured local businesses.

Before the panel, there will be a mini marketplace where you can pick up your pre-ordered snack or dinner set and check out other booths. Be encouraged by talking to the entrepreneurs directly, appreciating their talents and, of course, enjoying their goodies.

About the speakers:

  • Esther
A resilient single mother of four, founder of Shanalicious. Try her cookies.
  • Eric
A professional in the youth mental health space who will share his personal journey and insights about weaving our stories with those of youths facing adversity. You will also see firsthand the ripple effects on younger generations.
  • Yong-en Care Centre
A local charity with rich experiences supporting those in various life stages through a community-based approach, in many ways, weaving it all together.
