PLAYING SECOND KEYS

Unlock the full potential of your keyboard playing. Learn to craft immersive worship soundscapes, seamlessly integrate synths and pads, and confidently support your band as a second keyboardist.

What you will learn

  • The role of a second keyboardist in a worship band
  • How to layer pads, strings and synths for a fuller sound
  • Setting up a MacBook/iPad with your keyboard
  • Using Sunday Keys/MainStage for live worship

Who can attend

Participants should have at least ABRSM Grade 4 in piano or the ability to play and understand basic chords. The class requires a minimum of eight participants to start and has a maximum capacity of eight. A maximum two observers may attend as well.

About the instructor

Imelda Quek is an experienced worship musician with over 25 years of service at Faith Methodist Church. Starting as a classical pianist, she transitioned into contemporary worship, mastering the shift from solo playing to band dynamics. With her deep understanding of keyboard improvisation and worship soundscapes, Imelda is passionate about helping musicians navigate this journey.

About the organiser
The Methodist School of Music is a member of the Methodist Schools network. MSM was founded in 1997 as an agency of the Methodist Church in Singapore and is registered with the Ministry of Education.
