SINGAPORE BIBLE COLLEGE LECTURES ON MINISTERING TO THE AGEING

Singapore Bible College’s School of Theology (English) is conducting a series of lectures addressing key aspects of Christian ministry to Singapore’s ageing population. These lectures are a part of the course Ageing, Dying, and Care: Integrating Theology, Practice, and Innovation currently taught at Singapore Bible College.

A Counsellor’s Perspective on Pastoral Care for and Outreach to Seniors

This session explores the pastoral care needs of elderly individuals in Singapore, offering practical tips for reaching out and supporting them effectively. It also addresses common barriers to faith faced by elderly Chinese in the Singapore context and highlights ways to build meaningful connections to meet both spiritual and emotional needs.

Developing a Senior Ministry Framework

Church ministry among seniors is often not well-developed, lacking clear direction and vision. This session features practical insights from the seniors’ ministry at Covenant Evangelical Free Church. The session will explore the calling to serve seniors, core convictions that shape effective ministry, challenges faced, and the foundational beliefs every ministry needs. Come explore practical strategies for structuring and organising a meaningful and impactful seniors’ ministry.

Dementia, Identity and Spiritual Care

This session examines dementia care through practical and biblical perspectives, highlighting the challenges faced by people with dementia. By exploring how biblical teachings inform our understanding of identity, faith and community, participants will learn how faith communities can better support people with dementia and their families by promoting spiritual care and fostering inclusivity.
