This course equips you with essential Music Director (MD) skills:

  • Arrange music to fit your band’s strengths
  • Plan and run effective rehearsals with the Worship Leader
  • Lead musicians live, ensuring a cohesive worship flow

Who is this course for

  • Musicians looking to step up into co-leadership with the Worship Leader, taking on the responsibility of supporting the creative and musical direction of the team
  • Worship Leaders in smaller teams who want to develop MD skills to partially fulfill this role whenever needed

Who can attend

  • Seasoned musicians with at least one year of church worship band experience
  • Musicians adaptable to dynamic worship settings (improvisation skills are a plus)

About the instructor

Justin Chan is a Music Director, Worship Leader, and Local Preacher with expertise in both musical direction and worship leadership. With a Master of Divinity from Trinity Theological College, he combines musical, theological, and leadership skills to equip aspiring Music Directors with the tools to lead worship bands effectively

About the organiser:
The Methodist School of Music is a member of the Methodist Schools network. MSM was founded in 1997 as an agency of the Methodist Church in Singapore and is registered with the Ministry of Education.

Its three-fold thrust is to:

  • Contribute towards the development of music in Singapore and the region;
