Mr George Goh is the founder of Harvey Norman Ossia – bringing in the electronics and furniture giant into the region – as well as the chairman or founder of various publicly-listed companies.
In 2017, he was also named Singapore Ambassador to Morocco.
But few know that, far from being born with a silver spoon in his mouth, Mr Goh came to Singapore because of poverty. At the age of 16, he started work in a shoe factory at Geylang.
Mr Goh tells Salt&Light how a church next to the factory he worked for seven years would give him his first glimpse of a God who makes his soul sing, and who continues to anchor his values and his vision till today.
