As Christmas rolls around, churches across Singapore are gearing up to spread the festive cheer in their neighbourhoods.

From giant fairy lights, snow-globe photobooths and Go-Kart racing to free food and live performances, get ready to immerse yourself in the tapestry of festivities at a Christmas carnival near you.

And while you’re at it, ask along a friend or two so that they, too, can hear the Christmas story and revel in the joy of the season.

Christmas Wah!derland by Hope Singapore

There will be opportunities to take photos in a giant snow globe at Hope Singapore’s Christmas Wah!derland.

Experience a uniquely Singaporean Christmas at Hope Singapore’s Christmas Wah!derland, which will feature a variety of performances, a festive market, a live carol sing-a-long and an opportunity to snap photos with friends and family at a giant snow globe photobooth.

Perfect for families, the event also includes a special programme for kids with games, balloon sculpting and a chance to decorate – and fill! – their own snack buckets. A bonus: New visitors will receive a free gift!

The Art of Christmas by Sound of Art

Come and see the Christmas story told through art, music and dance.

For those who appreciate good art and music, be sure not to miss this community arts festival that uses faith-inspired art, music and dance to tell the Christmas story.

Organised by local art gallery and social enterprise Sound of Art, the festival, which will be conveniently located in i12 Katong, will feature a Christmas candlelight concert and performances by local churches and musicians.

There will also be guided art tours where participants can enjoy artworks including hyper-realistic paintings of the birth of Jesus Christ and a three-part abstract series based on the journey of the Magi following the star.

Dover Celebrates Christmas! by St-John’s-St-Margaret’s Church

From a Nerf Blaster station to Zumba for seniors, Dover Celebrates Christmas welcomes both the young and the old.

A carnival fit for the whole family, Dover Celebrates Christmas features exciting activities like a giant bouncy castle, a mini-train ride, a virtual reality experience and a Nerf Blaster station complete with all-out shootouts and Capture The Flag Challenges.

There will also be an Amazing Race challenge, hourly raffle draws and Zumba for seniors!

Those who prefer indoor activities can enjoy terrarium-making and flower arrangement workshops, while foodies can indulge in kaya toast and kopi, popcorn, ice-cream and bubble tea.

Talks on developmental disorders in children and legal-planning on wills and end-of-life matters will also be held.

Community Christmas Nights by Victory Family Centre (VFC)

Community Christmas Nights will be held at all of VFC’s branches across the island.

To add to the festive sparkle, VFC’s church buildings will be dressed in rows of fairy lights over two-and-a-half weekends this December. This is all part of Community Christmas Nights, which will involve carolling, food and drinks, kids activities – and not forgetting special light shows!

On December 23 and 24, there will also be a Christmas production featuring drummers, dancers, musical performances and a candlelight carolling session.

Community Christmas Nights will also be held at VFC’s other branches in Sembawang, Palm Grove, Toa Payoh, Rubikon and Tampines. (The Christmas production will only be held at the Tampines, Toa Payoh and Choa Chu Kang branches.)

Christmas at Faith by Faith Methodist Church

The candlelight services will also be broadcast online.

Christmas at Queenstown by Church of our Good Shepherd

Children delight in falling “snow” at last year’s Christmas at Queenstown.

Experience “snow” this December at this European-style Christmas market in the heart of Queenstown.

Over two weekends, the church will be illuminated with twinkling lights – a warm invitation for all to come in to enjoy some 40 stalls, bouncy castles and “animal” rides for the little ones.

There will also be a variety of live performances by a 20-piece jazz band, a pop group, classical opera singers and a string ensemble. Carols will be performed daily at 8pm.
