"You are more than your grades," writes former teacher Asaph Lee to all 'O' Level students receiving their results today. Photo by Hello I'm Nik on Unsplash.

Dear ‘O’ Level student,

You are probably anxious. You might be praying: “Father God, I am anxious about today’s results. But I choose to remember your Word and You told us not to be anxious but lift up our petitions to you. I ask for a good result, if You grant me one.”

I’ve been a teacher long enough to know (certainly longer than you’ve been alive!) that you are more than your grades.

I’ll say that again: You are more than your grades.

Your grades don’t define you.

You are already a winner if you choose to follow Jesus.

Let your results be a testimony … let this be a day when you can comfort your hurting friends and rejoice with your victorious friends.

The first disciples of Jesus were known to be unlearned men but people took note of them because they had been with Jesus.

Today, you praise God whether you get straight A’s or straight F’s, because God will use your A’s and your F’s.

He is sending you out. You have a mission field in your next step – whether you are going to work while waiting for polytechnic classes to start, whether you are going to JC, or whether you are going to ITE.

I am praying for you. I am praying with all my heart: “Father, I bless them and send them out.

“Prepare their hearts. Let their receiving of their results be a testimony to their classmates, schoolmates, teachers and even their parents.

“Let today be a day where they can comfort their hurting friends and rejoice with their victorious friends.

“I pray for joy and humility for them. Their lives are in your hands and you have a good plan for each of them.

“May they each find their unique plan in You, and follow Your plan alone. Amen.”

I am so proud of all of you.
