Bishop Titus Chung elected the 7th Archbishop of the Church of the Province of South East Asia

The Right Reverend Dr Titus Chung has been elected the 7th Archbishop of the Church of the Province of South East Asia, announced The Diocese of Singapore on its Facebook page on Wednesday (September 27).
Next February, Bishop Titus will succeed the Most Reverend Datuk Melter Jiki Tais, who has served as Archbishop of the Province since 2020.

“In addition to his function as a Diocesan Bishop, the Archbishop of the Province of South East Asia leads and has spiritual authority over the whole Province. He also represents the Province in its relation to the rest of the Anglican Communion and to other Churches, and on its behalf to correspond with other Primates,” the announcement explained.
Bishop Titus, who was elected at the recent Extraordinary Provincial Synod, is currently serving as the Bishop of Singapore for the Anglican Church. He was consecrated as the country’s 10th Bishop on October 18, 2020, at St Andrew’s Cathedral and succeeded Bishop Rennis Ponniah.
According to his biography on The Diocese of Singapore’s website, Bishop Titus was ordained in 1997 after graduating from Trinity Theological College. After his ordination, he served as priest, and then vicar, of the Chapel of the Holy Spirit until 2005 before becoming Priest-in-charge of the Mandarin congregation at St Andrew’s Cathedral.
Before becoming the Diocesan Bishop, he taught part-time at Trinity Theological College, was the Convenor of Continuing Ministerial Education for Clergy and Deaconesses for The Diocese of Singapore, and a member of the Senior Clergy Planning Team.
Married with two adult sons, he is a systematic theologian and holds a Doctor of Philosophy from The University of Edinburgh in the United Kingdom.
