DAY 3 - KIDS DEVO (ARTICLE)

Read

Bible reading for Day 3 | 1 Peter 5:8-11

8 Be alert and of sober mind. Your enemy the devil prowls around like a roaring lion looking for someone to devour. 9 Resist him, standing firm in the faith, because you know that the family of believers throughout the world is undergoing the same kind of sufferings.
10 And the God of all grace, who called you to his eternal glory in Christ, after you have suffered a little while, will himself restore you and make you strong, firm and steadfast. 11 To him be the power for ever and ever. Amen.”

Jesus tells us to watch and pray. The Son of God often went to a quiet place by Himself to pray to His heavenly Father. As followers of Jesus, we should follow His example to spend time with God and to pray. What do we watch for and how do we pray?

Watch and pray against Satan

Satan is the number-one enemy of God and also our number-one enemy. Pray that Jesus will destroy the devil’s work in our lives.

Watch and pray against sin

What is sin? It is doing something that God has told us not to do. Do you disobey your parents? Are you unkind to your brothers and sisters? Do you think bad thoughts about the annoying classmate? Ask God to show you what sin you have in your heart. Ask God to forgive you of these sins.

Watch and pray for your sanctification

When we follow Jesus, He will clean us and shape us to be like Him so that we can be set apart for Him. This is called sanctification. Have you allowed Jesus to change you? Spend time reading the Bible and speaking to Jesus so that you will know how He wants you to think, speak and act.

Discuss

1. What kinds of sin do you see around you? How do you think it makes God feel?

2. What sins do you have in your own life? How will you turn away from these sins so you can live a life that makes Jesus happy?

3. How can you change your daily time table to spend more time with God in reading His Word and praying?

Pray

1. Pray that God will show you the parts of your life that He wants to change. Pray that you will have an open and willing heart to change when He shows you.

2. Pray for God to help you to make time in your day to spend with Him so you can know Him better.
