DAY 7 - KIDS DEVO (ARTICLE)

Read

Bible reading for Day 1 | Nehemiah 1:3-4

They said to me, ‘Those who survived the exile and are back in the province are in great trouble and disgrace. The wall of Jerusalem is broken down, and its gates have been burned with fire.’

When I heard these things, I sat down and wept. For some days I mourned and fasted and prayed before the God of heaven.

A city is surrounded by walls to protect it against enemies. When the wall breaks and the gates burn down, enemies come in and take the city easily. Nehemiah cried when he heard that the walls of his beloved Jerusalem had broken down. Then he fasted and prayed to God for the city.

Singapore is surrounded by walls of law that protect it from bad influences. When these laws are cancelled, will you cry to God, and fast and pray for the broken wall? You can fast one day from one meal, one type of food, or TV, or computer games, and spend that time praying to God. He sees your heart and hears your prayer.

Discuss

1. What is God showing you about the walls of Singapore that need to be protected?

2. Why do you think God wants us to fast and pray? Would you choose one thing to fast from in the coming weeks?

Pray

1. Pray that God will show the areas of Singapore that need protecting. Is it your school? Is it your classroom? Is it a TV show or computer game?

2. Ask God to help you choose one thing to fast from and to use that time instead to pray.
