Dear Salt&Light,

I try to live out Kingdom values in my workplace and have made it clear that I will not participate in unethical work practices. But I have been passed over for promotion because of this. What should I do?

Andre Tan, 28, Distribution Executive

Persecution for righteousness’ sake is to be expected (2 Timothy 3:12) and if you have been passed over for that, then you are on the right track.

As you honour God, He will safeguard you and help you have precise wisdom and favour in situations you find yourself in.

Continue to hold your ground and don’t be afraid to live out Kingdom values. As you honour God, He will safeguard you and help you to have precise wisdom and favour in the situations you find yourself in.

Meanwhile, we also need to grow in wisdom to navigate through the minefields of this fallen world.

We need to make sure that the way we communicate our values and stand, we are not naïve, unwise or rude.

So that our witness can truly inspire the people of common faith around you as well as draw the unsaved to the King within you.
