This year’s Chinese New Year Blessing Party, slated to happen from February 15 to 16 at the Indoor Stadium, has been cancelled following the latest developments in the novel coronavirus outbreak, organisers announced on the event’s Facebook page tonight (February 5).
“This decision was made to avoid the spread of the epidemic due to a crowd gathering as it is our primary responsibility to ensure the health and safety of our attendees, performers and staff,” read the announcement, which was written in Chinese and signed off by the event’s chairman, Rev Phua Chee Seng.
As of February 5, Singapore has confirmed a total of 28 coronavirus cases.
Organisers apologised for the inconvenience caused and offered a refund to those who have purchased their tickets. Those with queries can contact the organisers at 9628 1596 by the end of February.
The event would have seen Christian entertainers sing, dance and share stories about Jesus’ redemption, according to its Facebook page.
It is a collaboration between the Church of Singapore and the Anglican, Methodist, Presbyterian and Lutheran churches. The last such event was in 2016.
