Winter is coming.

In Gaza, where UNRWA (United Nations Relief and Work Agency) reports almost 1.6 million people displaced since October 7 when the Israel-Hamas conflict exploded, the approaching winter spells more suffering among its residents.

Relief Singapore, in collaboration with Mercy Relief, is organising an urgent blanket donation drive so that Singaporeans can show care and support tangibly. Donated blankets will be sent to Gaza through Egypt.

“We hope this airlift of relief items from Singapore will help alleviate the suffering of the Palestinians in Gaza.”

“Relief Singapore has been monitoring the situation in the Gaza Strip since the October 7 attacks, and waiting for an opportunity to respond to the needs of those affected by the conflict, particularly in the Gaza Strip,” said Jonathan How, Director of Relief Singapore.

“When we were informed of a possible airlift of relief cargo for Gaza, we knew it was time for us to take action.

“Working in collaboration with Mercy Relief, which will also be involved in sending relief items through the airlift, Relief Singapore will organise a blanket donation drive from November 11-12 to help protect the affected from the approaching winter season.

“Bethesda (Bedok-Tampines) Church and Aramex, who partnered us in our relief efforts earlier this year for the Turkiye earthquake, were very prompt in agreeing to support us once again for this donation drive. We hope this airlift of relief items from Singapore will help alleviate the suffering of the Palestinians in Gaza.”

Here are the details of this weekend’s urgent blanket donation drive.
